Homemade salsa is so easy to make. It beats the store bought ones that have more ingredients than necessary. It can be an excellent addition to fajitas, burritos, eggs, hummus or it can be used as a salad topper throughout the week.

I love to use a mini food processor to chop my onions, garlic and cilantro to save even more time. These can be purchased for about $15 and also come in handy when chopping ginger, herbs or when making homemade dressings. They are small, easy to store and clean.


  • 6 tomatoes (diced)
  • ½ medium red onion (diced)
  • 1 clove garlic (diced)
  • ½ C cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 pepper (red, yellow or orange) (diced)
  • 2 limes (juices squeezed)
  • Sirachi, Mexican hot sauce or jalapeno for spice (optional)
  • S&P to taste


Chop all ingredients and place in a bowl. Squeeze lemon juice, hot sauce and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Stir and serve.
